• Biography

  • Jun Won Choi received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA. From 2010 to 2013, he worked as a Senior Engineer at Qualcomm in San Diego, USA. He joined Hanyang University in 2013, where he served as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering until 2024. In 2024, he joined Seoul National University, where he is currently a tenured Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He currently leads the Physical AI Lab. His research interests include artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, robotics, 3D vision and perception, and intelligent mobility. He has been published more than 70 leading journals and conferences in these fields.  Prof. Choi is a recipient of the Qualcomm Distinguished Faculty Award and a Commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea. He served as Workshop Chair for the 2024 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and International Journal of Automotive Technology. He also serves on several national committees and professional boards related to artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and intelligent vehicles.
